More than just sun in Costa del Sol

On the Costa del Sol there is much more than just sunshine: there is crystal clear water you can see through all the way down to the seabed; waiters who speak German with an Andalusian accent, unusual Ferrari models driven by both famous and unknown faces; delicious breakfasts with toast with oil and tomato finished off with a black coffee; beautiful mountains with quaint Andalusian white villages, one of which is even a Smurf-village; Sunday families gather around paella and watermelon on a beach they share with two ladies wearing burkinis. Costa del Sol is where everything started. Sixty years ago, the rich and famous in Europe began to look at Marbella as an exclusive destination, where you could enjoy a beautiful climate while you still could meet up with likeminded people. Interest in the area has since spilled over from exclusive Marbella to resorts such as Torremolinos and Fuengirola with lower prices for the visitor with a lower budget. Today, the Costa del Sol offers something for all wallets and tastes. You can choose to live in a luxury villa in Nueva Andalucía and Sotogrande or in a modern apartment complex at reasonable prices, in Fuengirola or Benalmádena. Or maybe you want to live in an authentic Andalusian coastal town like Nerja or retire to Frigiliana or stay in Casares rural areas. No matter where you stop at Costa del Sol you can be sure of two things: wherever you choose to settle, you will enjoy a beautiful climate, with sunny days most of the year. You can also be sure of bumping into at least one fellow national during the course of the day.
