Ex Catalan president and others sentenced over illegal referendum

The ex Catalan president Artur Mas has been sentenced to two years ban from public service and fined 36,500 euros for disobeying the Constitutional Tribunal and holding an illegal referendum over independence.

He said that he and two councillors who were also sentenced by the Catalonia Supreme Justice Tribunal would appeal to the end, implying that they may even take their appeals to the European courts.  Mas said he didn’t regret anything.
